A Day at the Zoo

Binder Park Zoo (near Battle Creek, MI) is a wonderful place to spend the day. Especially when the day is sunny and warm! Sister Allison, brother-in-law Doug, and nephew Eddie met us at the zoo early Saturday morning, before the crowds started to arrive. We started out the day with scary spiders, beautiful snow leopards, funny monkeys and such, followed by a Swamp Walk, which was really lovely. Next, we headed to "Africa" on a zebra-striped tram, which Eddie loved. Africa had great animals, including giraffes, my personal favorite. Oh, and the ice cream in Africa was especially good. :)

Eddie zonked out in his stroller while we were in Africa. He slept through the tram ride back to the mainland and was very disappointed when he discovered he had missed out on the trip. But he was consoled by the prospect of lunch (and cookies). Shortly after noon, we picniced on a wooden table under a shady tree. A perfectly lovely ending to a splendid day at the zoo.
See pictures of our day.
